September 9 2011
Bozeman will be celebrating its fourth year of One Book-One Bozeman in September. This year's book selection is “Between a Rock and a Hard Place” by Aron Ralston. Aron Ralston’s story began in 2003 when he was pinned by a boulder for nearly a week in a remote slot canyon in southern Utah. He narrowly escaped death by severing his right forearm with a dull pocketknife. After applying a tourniquet, he hiked and rappelled for five hours through Blue John Canyon before searchers rescued him.
In conjunction with One Book-One Bozeman the Bozeman Schools Foundation’s Links to Literacy program has selected the book "When We Go Camping", by Margriet Ruurs, as the first grade student book to be distributed in the Bozeman Public Schools this coming September. "When We Go Camping" was chosen as an age-appropriate extension of "Between a Rock and Hard Place" which has very strong themes of outdoor adventure. We hope that "When We Go Camping" will be a stepping stone in helping children learn about the outdoors and the numerous activities it affords.

The Bozeman Schools Foundation's Adult Team Spelling Bee
Thank you for attending our fun event!
This spring the Bozeman Schools Foundation Spelling Bee brought community members together again for the fourth annual Adult Team Spelling Bee. Businesses, schools, friends and organizations competed with a team of three spellers. Competition was intense for not only the cash prize but also the coveted bee trophy, best costume and team spirit awards.
Pronouncer “Chrysti the WordSmith”, Celebrity Judges: Mayor Jeff Krauss, Jornalist Denise Malloy, KTVM Anchor Patrice Parks, MSU Football Coach Rob Ash and Bridger High School Principal Mike Ruyle, prizes from local businesses and a diabolical selection of words will all contributed to the festivities.
